Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Hosts Conference on the Commercialization of Unmanned Aviation

View Powerpoint presentations from the 2005 conference

WHEN: May 2-4, 2007

WHERE: Daytona Beach, Florida, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

WHO WILL ATTEND: leaders in the academic, commercial, and military realms of Unmanned Aerial System developments and usage

COST: TBA

Its aim is to bring together key industry, government, and academic leaders in an efficient and productive forum to discuss the challenges of expanding unmanned aerial systems (UAS) into the commercial realm.
As many participants in this realm are aware already, issues of technology and airspace access so far have dominated the “commercial” UAS discourse. Issues such as economics, business case development, safety assessments and case development, human factors, underwriting, and pilot training have received comparatively modest attention. So far, no conference has aimed yet to bring together such a broad community of senior practitioners to discuss these issues openly and comprehensively, with an aim to developing a holistic understanding of best-candidate market niches and the full range of human and policy issues involved in opening them up expeditiously.

Accordingly, the “deliverables” of this conference will be a closer integration of the professional community of unmanned aviation and to identify directions for priority research and development.

To keep this forum focused and productive, attendance will be limited to 150 participants, each of whom must be exercising substantive leadership in the academic, commercial, and military realms of UAS developments and usage. This small number will restrict invitations to no more than one or, in exceptional cases, two participants from any one organization (labs, schools, military staff branch or division, etc.) or corporate headquarters (private company, military major command, government agency, etc.)
We will publish and release proceedings of the conference for those who cannot attend.
