"I love space and now I have an excellent, complete package to implement in my program." -- Thomas Gabeler, Melbourne High School, 2004 TeachSpace Workshop

TEACHSPACE

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

TeachSpace is a national program of free, in-service workshops created to help middle and high school teachers bring the excitement of the human exploration of space to America’s math, science, and technology classrooms.
TeachSpace provides the training and tools that make it easy for teachers to introduce carefully selected space exploration topics into their curriculum.
The modules are specifically designed to integrate seamlessly and to excite and motivate budding young scientists, engineers, and technologists in 5th through12th grades.

ABOUT THE Workshop

Selected teachers are invited to attend a workshop in their licensed teaching home state.

Teachers are provided with instructional materials.

Teachers receive a stipend for travel expenses.

After completing the workshop, teachers are awarded CEU credit (professional development/continuing education) through their individual districts and a certificate of completion.

Teachers can earn one graduate-level credit from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Teachspace, an Expanding Program (Timeline)

The first workshops in this multi-year program were held on Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach, Florida, campus in Summer of 2004.

In 2005, workshops were offered at both Embry-Riddle residential campuses -- Prescott, Arizona, and Daytona Beach, Florida; and also at Embry-Riddle's Worldwide Campus center in Seattle, Washington.

In 2006 workshops were offered at both the Florida and Arizona campuses.

In 2007 Embry-riddle joined SpaceTEC for a two-day rocketry and propulsion workshop at Kennedy Space Center.

Contingent upon further funding, additional workshops will be provided nationwide 2009.
