Minors
Multiple minors are available to engineering students here at Embry-Riddle. Some of the popular ones for engineering students include:
- Computer Science
- The computer science minor allows engineering students to seek additional depth in programming and software engineering practices
- Mathematics
- This is a 21 credit minor that provides additional depth beyond mathematics required for engineering. After completing the Engineering requirement, students are close to completing the mathematics minor requirements.
- Aeronautical Studies
- The Aeronautical studies minor focuses on aircraft performance, flight physiology, navigation and the more operational side of aircraft.
Aviation Weather - Aviation weather focuses on weather for pilots. It looks at an applied understanding of weather and how it affects a pilot's decisions to fly or to stay home.
- Flight
- The flight minor is focused around the operation of aircraft. In this case it requires multiple FAA ratings through instruction at our flight-line. Engineering students sometimes choose this minor when looking to build hours or prepare for a career as a test pilot or broaden their understanding of the operational side of aircraft.
Designer Minor
In addition students can create a "Designer Minor". In many cases students choose an interdisciplinary minor that they design with their faculty advisor. Many AE students choose to design a minor around Electrical Engineering. Electrical Engineering students chose minors based in Computer Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
