BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Junior Year in Computer Engineering
Major courses this semester include computer architecture and operating systems, the heart and soul of digital computers.
Practical Experience
It is likely that the student has, by this time, had one good industrial experience during the summer and is now more sure of the special aspects of computing that seem particularly interesting. Research experience for students may be found in certain areas such as computer vision, robotics, microprocessors, embedded controllers and others. Communication skills and project management techniques are highlighted is several courses and early work on a major design project may begin.
Hardware
More hardware studies of solid state devices and systems are part of the curriculum that is common with the EE program. Emphasis on real time systems with embedded controllers are key concepts for students in the department. Telecommunications and network based computing are other topics that our CE students find interesting.
