Engineering Clubs and Organizations
There are multiple clubs, organizations and societies that are open to engineering students. They provide opportunity for leadership, camaraderie, learning, competition, and exposure to your chosen profession on a national level. Here are several to consider:
- American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
This is the national professional organization for Aerospace Engineers. The student clubs compete in AIAA competitions in aircraft and spacecraft. The student organization sponsors lectures and discussions as well as presenting student and professional papers on a national level. Visit the campus chapter. - Eta Kappa Nu
This is the honorary society for Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering students. Entry to this organization is based on academic standing. Visit the national society.- Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
The IEEE is the professional organization for Electrical and Computer Engineers. The organization has a broad reach with chapters focused on computing, computer science as well as electrical engineering. The society offers opportunities for students to organize lectures and competitions at the local, regional and national levels. Visit the national organization.- Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
The SAE is a national professional organization made up of professionals who design machines. These include aircraft, automotive as well as industrial machinery. The student chapter competes in aircraft competitions that include the heavy lift competition.- Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS)
This student organization is organized around the exploration of space. The NASA Space Grant Consortium is closely coupled with this student group to enable research within Embry-Riddle and they are also in collaboration with multiple Universities around the country and with NASA itself.- Sigma Gamma Tau
This is the honorary society for Aerospace Engineering students. Entry to this organization is based on academic standing.- Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
The student section of SWE has their focus primarily in the astronautics side of Aerospace Engineering. This group of women and men are designing a satellite and have built a ground station to control the system. They work with the national chapter as well as other regional chapters and participate in a wide range of academic, professional, and social functions.
