AEROSPACE & MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Degree Programs
The Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering Department on the Prescott Campus only offers undergraduate degrees. This ensures that the focus of our faculty is primarily on teaching.
Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering Degree Program
The
Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Aerospace Engineering is a 4 year program
with 129 semester credit hours. Students have the option of two capstone design
sequences - Aircraft Design or Spacecraft Design. The main courses specific
to these sequences are listed below.
- Aircraft Design Option- The main courses specific to the Aircraft Design Option are: AE 413, Airplane Stability and Control; AE 420, Aircraft Preliminary Design; AE 421, Aircraft Detail Design.
- Spacecraft Design Option- The main courses specific to the Spacecraft Design Option are: AE 320, Experimental Space Systems Engineering; AE 426, Spacecraft Attitude Dynamics and Control; AE 427, Spacecraft Preliminary Design; AE 445, Spacecraft Detail Design; EP 394, Space Systems Engineering.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Degree Program
The
Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering is a 4 year
program with 129 semester credit hours. Students have the option of two concentrations:
Robotics or Propulsion. The main courses specific
to these sequences are listed below:
- Robotics - The main courses specific to the Robotics Design Option are: ME 402, Robotics II; EE 420, Preliminary Design; EE 421, Senior Capstone Project, CEC or EE elective.
- Propulsion - The main courses specific to the Propulsion Design Option are: ME 4XX, Advanced Propulsion; AE 435, Air-Breathing Propulsion Preliminary Design; AE 440, Air-Breathing Propulsion Detail Design.
Multidisplinary Design Experience
All our students, regardless of their degree, are encouraged to participate in a multidisciplinary design experience by means of four different Capstone sequences. So, an Aerospace Engineering student may take the Propulsion design option or a Mechanical Engineering student may choose to take the Spacecraft design option.
