The Embry-Riddle Honors Program offers enriched educational experiences and opportunities to exercise social and ethical responsibility through active, organized involvement on the campus and in the community. Emphasizing course work in General Education and in the majors, the Program involves select faculty who develop innovative courses and establish mentoring relationships with students. The Program is designed to attract and retain top students and to develop their communicative, analytical, critical, and research skills, with the goal of nurturing a love of life-long learning, leadership, and service.

Additionally, the Honors Program seeks to:

  • establish a sense of community among its members
  • foster a meaningful addition to campus life through the activities of its student organization
  • enhance the quality of the academic and cultural experience of the campus through its distinguished speaker series
  • serve as a model of academic excellence and as a seedbed of curricular innovation for the university.

The Honors Student

The Honors Student Association OctoberWest Float. The float, a pirated space shuttle, won the Judge's Pick award. The Honors Student Association is looking forward to participating again next year. The Embry-Riddle Honors Program is highly selective, inviting a limited number of incoming freshmen, and extending further offers of enrollment on a space-only basis. Honors students will complete three consecutive seminars to fulfill the general education component of the Honors Program, and nine credit hours of Honors in their specific major. Each degree program determines the nature of the Honors experience in the major, which typically culminates in a senior project or thesis.

The Honors Faculty

The Honors Program is monitored by a faculty advisory committee consisting of faculty representatives from numerous departments representing all three colleges at Embry-Riddle: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Aviation, and College of Engineering.

Guidance

As a new member of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), the principal agency representing Honors education at American colleges and universities, Embry-Riddle used NCHC guidelines in establishing its Honors Program. The Embry-Riddle Prescott Honors Program is part of the University Honors Program.
