The Army ROTC program at the Prescott Campus is small. Class sizes are usually between five and fifteen cadets. Each cadet recieves lots of personal attention, and communication between the cadets and the cadre is excellent.

Army ROTC Activities At Embry-Riddle's Prescott Campus

Color Guard:

Army ROTC Color Guard

The color guard is a group of cadets who practice the drill and ceremony involved with the handling of the national colors. They post the national colors during the opening ceremonies at Phoenix Suns and Cardinals professional sports games. Color guard members receive free tickets to any game at which they post the colors. The color guard also participates in local public parades and other activities, including graduation.

Ranger Challenge:

Ranger Challenge team is a group of cadets who undergo extensive physical training, weapons training, and hands-on common skill training in preparation for competition with other ROTC battalions throughout the region at the ranger challenge competition.

Airborne/Air Assault:

Most cadets are eligible to attend Airborne and/or Air Assault training with the active Army at Fort Benning, Ga., Ft. Belvior, Va., or Fort Campbell, Kent., during the summer. Airborne School lasts for 3 weeks, while Air Assault School lasts for 2 weeks. Those cadets who complete the training get to wear the Airborne or Air Assault patches on their uniform. Cadets applying for this training must be in excellent physical condition.

Field Training Exercises:

Eagle Company goes on serveral Field Training Exercises (FTX's) every year. On these FTX's cadets learn about garrison life, field survival, and participate in several activities such as rapelling, rifle shooting (BRM), running obstacle courses, making rope bridges, and leadership reaction courses. Some FTX's are held with all Arizona ROTC units, and an optional winter survival FTX is available for those who are up for the challenge.
