As a mother of 5, going back to college after a 20 year hiatus was an interesting endeavor, to say the least. Working full time and attending college full time has been an enormous challenge but well worth the effort. I would not have been able to accomplish my goals without the love and support of my family and it is my hope that by pursuing these goals I will instill in them a desire to embark upon educational adventures throughout their lives and share what they have learned with others, as is my ultimate intention.

Upon graduation, I will be pursuing a PhD in Education. My research will focus on the globalization of education. We face a scenario where many nations have adopted outcomes-based assessments as opposed to US accreditation processes. They are via the Bologna process and other mechanisms, streamlining their post-secondary offerings to be more specialized and focused, often omitting the general education component so engrained in the US undergraduate system. US institutions have been reluctant to adopt this new paradigm. I will be analyzing the process beginning at the secondary, college-preparation level and proceeding through tertiary degrees at institutions in the US and globally to determine if the shift is one that can be embraced as comparable and acceptable for the purposes of degree transportability and licensure in various disciplines.
