Prescott Flight Line

Aircraft Fleet

The Cessna Skyhawk is what all new pilots start training on when they come to Embry-Riddle. The Skyhawk is an excellent plane to learn the basics of flight in.Cessna Skyhawk (172S)

The Cessna 172S, also known as the Skyhawk, is a 180 HP, high-wing, single-engine aircraft with seating capacity for up to four occupants. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has seventeen Cessna 172s.

G1000 Cessna

Several Cessna G1000 (Glass Cockpits) have been added to the fleet

After learning the basics of flight in a Skyhawk, students move up to the Piper Seminole for multi-engine training. The Seminole offers a more complex flying experience for more experienced pilots.Piper Seminole (PA-44)

The Piper PA-44 is a multi-engine, complex, training aircraft with two 180 HP engines, a low-wing design and seating capacity for up to four occupants. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has eight PA-44s.

Many of the top AS students go on to become flight instructors. All flight instructors are trained in the Cessna 182RG, or Skylane, prior to instructing younger pilots.Cessna Skylane (C182RG)

The Cessna 182RG, also known as the Skylane, is a 235 HP, high-performance, single-engine aircraft with seating capacity for up to four occupants. The Skylane is used for training certified flight instructor applicants. The Embry- Riddle Prescott fleet has two Cessna 182s.

The American Champion Super Decathalon is an aerobatic trainer for the most advanced pilots. The Decathalon is capable of multiple positive and negetive G loading, making it ideal to get an aerobatic start with.Super Decathlon (8KCAB)

The American Champion Super Decathlon 8KCAB, used as an aerobatic trainer, is a 180 HP, single-engine, tailwheel aircraft with tandem seating and a fabric covered steel tube airframe. In the aerobatic category it is capable of positive 6 and negative 5 G loading. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has two Decathlon 8KCABs.

Cessna 150

The Cessna 150’s are designated exclusively for the use of Embry-Riddle’s national champion Golden Eagles Flight Team. The 1965 Cessna 150’s feature upgraded 150 HP engines, and 40 degrees of flaps. This high-wing, single-engine aircraft has a seating capacity of two occupants. Embry-Riddle maintains two Cessna 150’s for the use of the flight team.

Flight Training Devices (FTD's)

Frasca PA44, Level 6 FTD

The Frasca Piper Seminole Flight Training Device (FTD) is a state of the art training device with a 220 degree wrap-around visual system, electronic control loading, digital sound simulation, and a cockpit that is identical to the actual airplane. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has one level 6 PA-44 FTD and one level 5 PA-44 FTD. Click here to see the specifications.

The Frasca C172, or Cessna Skyhawk, Flight Training Device allows students to learn the basics in a much more controlled environment. 220 degree wrap around screen, digital sound simulation and a cockpit identical to the real plane makes the student feel like they're in the air.Frasca C172, Level 6 FTD

The Cessna Skyhawk Flight Training Device (FTD) is a state of the art training device with a 220 degree wrap around visual system, electronic control loading, digital sound simulation, and a cockpit that is identical to the actual airplane. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has three level 6 C-172 FTDs. Click here to see the specifications.

The Frasca 142 Flight Training Device offers a learning environment outside the cockpit for students training on the multi-engine planes. Frasca 142 FTD

The Frasca 142 is a multi-engine Flight Training Device (FTD) with a color visual display. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has one Frasca 142 FTD. Click here to see the specifications.

The Frasca 141 FTD allows for students to get basic intrument training outside of the airplane. This allows students to maximize learning time while in the actual plane. Frasca 141 FTD

The Frasca 141 is a single engine Flight Training Device (FTD) used for basic instrument flight training. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has three Frasca 141 FTDs. Click here to see the specifications.

The Airbus A-320 Simulator is a state-of-the-art simulator that resembles the actual cockpit of a real plane. This provides ERAU students with almost real experience in a commercial aircraft. ERAU Airbus A-320 Fixed Base Simulator

ERAU is honored to offer students a level 7 A320 FBS (fixed base simulator) which has been in operation since the summer of 2005. This simulator, which resembles the actual cockpit of a current A320 aircraft and has a brand new 150 degree wrap around visual system, is used by students in the AS 420 course. ERAU is proud to be the only accredited university in the country with this type of commercial aircraft simulator.

Cockpit Procedures Trainer

The Cessna 172 and Piper PA-44 Cockpit Procedures Trainers (CPT) simulate the actual airplane cockpits and are used to develop proper checklist procedures for both normal and emergency situations prior to training them in the aircraft. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has 3 Cessna and 3 Piper CPTs.

PCATDs

Personal Computer Based Aviation Training Devices (PCATDs) can simulate both single-engine and multi-engine aircraft. They are very effective and cost-efficient for introducing instrument flight procedures. The PCATDs are free for students to use when they are not being used for instructional purposes. The Embry-Riddle Prescott fleet has four PCATDs.
