Please browse through the tabs below to find out about Counseling, and the services offered Mission
Maintaining mental health is essential for academic success and a productive career in the aviation/aerospace industry. The mission of Counseling Services is to help students achieve their educational goals, learn the process of problem solving, increase and enhance their capacity for satisfying interpersonal relationships, narrow their career goals, and make full use of their potential for continued growth beyond their educational experience at ERAU. What is Counseling?
Counseling is a process in which a counselor and a student work together to resolve issues that are of concern to the student. Issues addressed in counseling vary from adjustment to college life, study skills, relationship problems, and stress, to more serious problems. In order to get the most from this experience, the student must be an active participant in establishing what goals are important, exploring potential solutions and experimenting with new and potentially more effective ways of perceiving or behaving. A brochure about Counseling is available as a download (PDF). Appointments
Students may schedule an appointment with a counselor by calling Health Services at 6653. Every attempt is made to schedule appointments as soon as possible. There may be instances, however, when a counselor is unavailable or out of the office. Please leave a message if possible.

Canceling appointmentsIt is important to realize that when making an appointment you are reserving a time with a counselor. Therefore, if for any reason, you are unable to keep your appointment, please call Counseling Services in advance so that the time can be used by another student in need. SatisfactionWhile Counseling Services regularly evaluates student satisfaction of services, we appreciate hearing your feedback on how to improve what we do. You may do this by talking to or e-mailing our staff directly at the information listed below: (928) 777-6653 Counseling Services are provided in accord with the ethical standards of the American Counseling Association, ACA Code of Ethics & Standards of Practice (American Counseling Association [ACA], 1997). What to Expect
Please check in at Health Services. The administrative assistant will ask you to fill out an information sheet. This sheet asks the usual. There's also a sheet on your rights in regards to confidentiality. When you meet with your counselor, the counselor will ask you about the reasons you have come in. Basically, in addition to getting to know you, the counselor is trying to understand what's going on and how he or she can be helpful. Sometimes students feel helped by just telling someone what is going on and having someone understand. Sometimes students need more time to figure out the problem or need more support than just a session or two can provide. How long you will continue to come will be something that you and the counselor will figure out depending on your needs. Services
