New Academic Complex on the Arizona campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University houses the state-of-the-art weather center, weather radar and roof-top equipment Applied meteorology students use a state-of-the-art Weather Center and computer-equipped classrooms to understand and forecast complex atmospheric phenomena ranging from severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, to cyclones and jet streams, to global climate. Emphasis is placed on helping students apply theory to operational weather forecasting and decision making in weather-sensitive industries.

The Prescott Campus Weather Center provides students with state-of-the-art equipment to improve their understanding of weather. The high-tech Academic Complex houses the Meteorology Department and Weather Center. Weather servers in the new facility continuously acquire a variety of real-time weather data and forecasts from across a wide-area network of universities and make the information available for education, research, and general interest. In addition, a rooftop array of weather instrumentation, including a radiosonde system and an aircraft weather radar, is used to monitor local weather phenomena.

Real-time digital meteorological displays and printed weather maps are available for forecasting and weather briefing in the Weather Center on the ground floor of the new building. Adjacent to the Weather Center, specially designed computer classrooms and labs provide a cutting-edge environment for learning the theory and application of meteorology.
