The Humanities and Communications department teaches students to:

  • Communicate professionally with technical business communications and speech classes
  • Communicate with people around the world through foreign language classes in Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin Chinese
  • Develop a global understanding of ethics and values through classes like Comparative Religions, World Literature, and Mythology
  • Understand how our culture is shaped by political and social events through classes like Studies in Music and Studies in Film
  • Sharpen critical thinking skills through classes like Philosophy and Values and Ethics
  • Express themselves in the Black Box literary journal and classes like Creative Writing
  • Appreciate the performing arts with theater productions and poetry readings
  • Report on current events in Horizons newspaper
