Careers for Engineering Physics Graduates

Space Shuttle Flight

Where do the EP graduates go?

Roughly 20 percent to 30 percent choose to go immediately to graduate school. About 20 percent to 25 percent are at Embry-Riddle on ROTC scholarships and go immediately to service obligations. The remaining 50 percent (approx.) go to work primarily in the space program -- in Houston and in Southern California, for example.

What are the graduate school opportunities for EP graduates?

Our students have gone into programs in physics, chemistry, astronomy, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, and even medical physics. Virtually all have received full assistantships or fellowships to continue their education. They have gone to schools such as Dartmouth, University of Michigan, Penn State, University of Florida, Florida State, M.I.T., Washington University, and The University of Texas-Austin.

Are EP graduates limited by the availability of space program jobs?

We think they certainly are not. Their education prepares them for careers in applied physics and all sorts of engineering fields. This has been one of the most consistent findings of the EP program 's Industrial Advisory Board. The broad mathematics, science, engineering, and computer applications gained in EP are the keys to 21st century technology and the developments we cannot yet predict.
