Meet Our Students

Daniel Demmery

I came to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University last year with hopes of fulfilling a childhood dream to fly.  I am currently enrolled in the Aeronautical Science program and am working on my Flight Instructor License.  I have realized that ERAU and the Aeronautical Science Department are the greatest assets to help me achieve my dreams.

The professors that I interact with on a daily basis are not here to simply perform a job; rather this is their passion that they desire to share with those of similar interests. They teach from first hand experiences in the aviation industry from companies such as Delta Airlines and American Airlines, just to name a few.   The university also provides excellent networking opportunities such as the Eagles Flight Team, of which I am a second-year member.

Traveling with the Flight Team to nationally recognized competitions is one such event that allows students to interact with top executives from leaders in the aviation industry. In addition, the aircraft and flight training devices are superior.  In my personal flying experiences, I have yet to fly aircraft that are as new and advanced as ours.

The implementation of ADS-B into our fleet of 60+ aircraft is just one way that ERAU is a step above the rest.  It is no wonder why one out of every four pilots is an ERAU alumnus. I can say with confidence that I have made the right choice by attending ERAU.  Although I am making sacrifices that will cost me for years to come, I will reap the rewards of being a Professional Pilot for the remainder of my life.  I will have the best office in the world!  Whether your goal is an airline, corporate, or military, ERAU will give you the competitive edge the industry desires

If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to contact me at demmeb03@erau.edu

The Aeronautical Science Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will prepare you for a future career in aviation better than any other program available.

The faculty could not be more knowledgeable and experienced or the courses instructed any more proficiently.

Every professor in the department is passionate about aviation and loves to help students in understanding the course material and in accomplishing their goals.

I have received several letters of recommendation for an internship I am pursuing from professors whose courses I have taken and all have been willing and happy to help me move further down my career path.

I enrolled in the Dispatch Program, which will provide me with the sign-off required to take the practical exam for the Dispatch Certificate.

It is inspiring to learn from professors who love flying themselves and display this firsthand in their classes, from Turbine Engines to Aerodynamics.

The university's fleet of aircraft is large and stringently maintained and the safety of its students and flight instructors is the top priority. I have completed most of my training at Embry-Riddle, but I have rented airplanes from other operators. The difference in maintenance and upkeep of the aircraft and attitude of the staff is staggering.

Not only do the faculty and staff take their jobs seriously, but also they are courteous and helpful.

To sum up my experience of the Aeronautical Science Department at Embry-Riddle in one word: professionalism.

I came to Embry-Riddle three years ago with very high expectations.

I am an Aeronautical Science major and have completed the requirements for an Aviation Weather minor and am also a participant in the Dispatch program.

I have received my Instrument, Commercial, and Multi-Engine ratings from ERAU in their part 141 program and am looking forward to graduating this December and moving up into the real world.

I am fully confident in my flying abilities and aviation knowledge that I gained while in school. Last semester I was on an internship with a regional carrier and was able to participate in their new-hire pilot indoctrinate training and systems ground school. This was a very intense training environment but I was able to get through it all with little stress and positive results. I credit my success to the aeronautical science classes that I have taken here at 'Riddle: Systems and Components, Aircraft Turbines, and Aircraft Performance to name a few.

I am very pleased with the quality of education I have received here. The number of students in my classes has yet to exceed thirty, my professors know my name and some history about me, and if I have a question about any information presented in our textbooks I can just go talk to the author since that's usually who's teaching the class!

The professors in the Aeronautical Science department are frequently more like mentors than teachers. They actually care about their students. Their dedication to our success makes this university the best in Aviation and Aerospace. I am a proud Eagle!

I am currently a Junior in the Aeronautical Science Program, working on my Commercial Pilots License. When I first decided to attend Embry-Riddle, I came with the sole desire to become a professional pilot. Little did I know that I was going to get so much more

In the Aeronautical Science Program, not only will I graduate as a Commercial Multi-Instrument rated pilot, but I will also graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree. Within this degree program, I am also working on a Business Administration Minor and an Aviation Safety Minor. Furthermore, I am enrolled in the Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Program, which will prepare me to pursue the Aircraft Dispatcher Airman Certificate.

My experience here at Embry-Riddle has turned into something that would have been unattainable anywhere else. Not only are the courses and flight training incomparable to any other institution, but there are a variety of extra-curricular activities to take part in, which enhances the total college experience. Ranging from athletics, to honor societies, to skydiving there's always something to do! Personally, I am involved with the Eagles Flight Team, which helps me sharpen my skills as a pilot, and develop an attitude inclined towards teamwork.

Choosing Embry-Riddle was definitely one of the best decisions I've made so far, and definitely an investment towards my future. I take advantage of every opportunity that I am offered, and enjoy my time here. If anyone wants to know more, about me or about the university, feel free to contact me at okiyaffa@erau.edu .

I decided that I was going to be a pilot when I was in my junior year of high school in San Mateo, California. At that time, I had had numerous factors that influenced my decision to become a pilot. One of the biggest factors was that my grandpa was once a B-17 pilot in World War II.

There was something romantic about how the plane looked with the design of the aircraft. Soon, I was asking my grandpa for his experiences about flying and gradually my interest in aviation perked.

In addition, the fact that I lived very close to San Francisco International Airport also contributed to my eventual career choice. From where my house was located, I could easily see all the United 747s and other aircraft making their final approach to the airport.

Furthermore, it seemed that being a pilot and going to places all over the world would make for a very exciting career compared to a job that would find me stuck at an office all day. It was these factors that led me to want to pursue a career as an airline pilot and Embry-Riddle.

Three years into college, I can say with confidence that I made the right decision.

I will be graduating this December (2005) with a bachelor degree in Aeronautical Science and a minor in Air Traffic Control. I have earned my Private, Instrument, Commercial, Multi, CFI, CFII, and MEI within about 3 years. I can honestly say that you will never receive better flight training anywhere else!

I am very pleased with the way the curriculum is taught, particularly in the Aeronautical Science department. The professors that are employed in this department are all highly qualified, having experience in either the military, airline, or in some cases both.

These professors not only teach you what you need to know to succeed in the aviation industry, they are also there as wonderful mentors, for they have already been there and done that!

I transferred to 'Riddle in the fall of 2003 with a year of community college and a private pilot license. When I first arrived here I was a little bit intimidated. But it didn't take long before I got used to the classes and flying. The nice thing about the Aeronautical Science Department is that even though there is a ton of information thrown at you, they do it in an organized way which makes learning easy and effective.

I will be graduating in May 2006 with my private, commercial, instrument, multi, CFI, CFII, and MEI. The Aero Sci program is great, but the people are even better.

For instance, just today I walked into a flight training center just outside of Daytona Beach and saw a guy that I was in class with two years ago. Well, I found out that he is now the vice president of that company. Connections are everything, and 'Riddle is a great place to get them. I know that with the training, education, and connections that Embry-Riddle has given me, that flying for an airline is no longer a dream, but a reality.

If you have any questions my e-mail address is geiseda@erau.edu Id be happy to answer them.

The Aeronautical Science degree program is excellent for preparing someone who wants to pursue a career as a professional pilot. This degree is filled with information that aids a pilot in becoming knowledgeable about flying and more. It ranges from the basic knowledge foundation pertaining to what makes an airplane fly, to breaking down every aspect of flying to a science.

I am very close to finishing this program and I feel confident that when I am finished, I will be a highly knowledgeable pilot.

I came to Embry-Riddle after attending another university and a couple other flight schools and what I found really opened my eyes. They have a bead on the aviation industry that is -in my humble opinion- unparalleled.

'Riddle knows how to train students for the real world because they bring the real world to 'Riddle. Every semester there is opportunity to meet with industry leaders and get their views.

I learned so much by attending that I can say I have no regrets and am looking forward to my future in the big blue world of aviation.

My Embry-Riddle experience started out fantastic like many college students going away to school for the first time. The challenge of different surroundings and new people has ultimately enhanced my experience in college making me a better person as a result. Many fond memories of college will remain with me and I hope to always treasure them throughout my life.

My fondest memory in college is the day I moved in the dorms. I remember meeting all the students in my hall. Embry-Riddle has a great mix of students geographically. Everyone was from all around the country and even the world. I always thought it was fascinating that everyone came to one place, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, to be the best that they can be in the aviation industry.

Overall my experiences at Embry-Riddle have been positive. Without this experience I would not be the person I am today. I have grown into a well-grounded adult capable of accomplishing anything I desire in the future. I credit Embry-Riddle and the individuals I have met along the way for the successes I have achieved in college and will continue to achieve through life.

As a student enrolled in the Aeronautical Science program here at Embry-Riddle, I must say that I have been thoroughly impressed with the education that I have received over the past four years.

For those who are seeking a career in aviation, Embry-Riddle's "Aero Sci" program offers everything that you are looking for. Embry-Riddle's state of the art flight training program will mold you into a professional and knowledgeable pilot armed with the skills necessary to succeed in any airline or corporate flight department in the world. These skills will be furthered by a four year academic program that leads the student from basic principles of flight to Canadair Regional Jet training.

Our academic department is made up of professors who not only share the students' passion for flying, but  offer their invaluable knowledge and experience to all. I highly recommend Embry-Riddle's Aeronautical Science degree to anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in aviation.

The men and women of the aeronautical science department here at Embry-Riddle are people who truly care about the success of the students.

They have gone above and beyond to help the students in any way they can.

And the experience they bring to the classroom not only helps when it comes to classroom material but is also inspiring to all of us who are in pursuit of a career in the aviation industry.

I have enjoyed every class I have taken because of the unique area they all cover and I am confident to say I am prepared for what is to come next.

As a senior here at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, I look back at what I was like when I got here and it's unbelievable.

When I got here, I had my private pilot certificate. As I started flying and taking courses I quickly realized that I really didn't know anything about flying.

I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania where flying regulations weren't strictly enforced. Flying in the congested area around Daytona Beach you quickly learned a whole lot really fast.

Now that I have my single and multi-engine land commercial ratings with instrument, I'm a totally different type of pilot.

As far as the teachers go, they are all very knowledgeable and have amazing stories which they are willing to share with anyone and everyone who is willing to listen.

This University has given me so much knowledge and experience.

Embry-Riddle is definitively not a party school. It is a tool! A tool that one can use to mold himself into a greater being.

I came to ERAU knowing nothing about airplanes. Four years later I am graduating with a degree in aeronautical science and a pilot instructor licenses.

In the end I had a great time and I got my money's worth.
