Description

This laboratory occupies 2304 square feet on the first floor of the Lehman Building. A sketch of the floor plan is shown below. Entry is through an interior hallway (the double doors at the top), with access to an exterior loading dock at the opposite end.

Equipment

  • Infrared camera.
  • Dynamometers
    • 20-700 horsepower, fluid circuit type.
    • 0-2 horsepower, propeller loaded.
    • 0-1 horsepower, proney brake loaded.
    • 2-15 horsepower, electrical generator loaded.
  • Model turbojet engine and test stand, 36 pound of thrust.
  • Four cylinder, 250 horsepower Lycoming aircraft engine and stand.
  • Computer data acquisition system.
  • Fuel testing hood and vent.
  • 50 horsepower, two cylinder engine test stand.
  • Propeller noise test setup.

Utilization

This facility is used in conjunction with courses in thermodynamics, propulsion and heat transfer, for graduate student research projects, and contract work with industry.
