Daytona Beach Campus - College of Aviation Applied Aviation Sciences Department Minor Courses of StudyAIR TRAFFIC CONTROL MINORThe air traffic control (ATC) minor provides the fundamental traffic controller knowledge and technical competency through a mix of classroom instruction, computer-based instruction, and realistic ATC laboratory simulations. ERAU has a formal partnership agreement with the FAA that designates the university as an FAA-approved air traffic control training school. This partnership insures that the learning objectives and the standards of student achievement are relevant to the needs of the FAA. To qualify for the ATC minor, students must successfully complete the required prerequisites, and the four ATC courses , which must be taken in sequence. AVIATION WEATHER MINORApplied Aviation Sciences offers an Aviation Weather minor at the Daytona Beach, Florida campus. The minor in Aviation Weather introduces the student pilot to the numerous weather products provided to the aviation community by commercial vendors and government agencies around the world. Students will learn about flying weather over the seven continents as well as how to recognize atmospheric conditions that favor the development of convective storms and other aviation weather hazards. The minor requires 15 hours of weather courses.
AVIATION SAFETY MINORThe Aeronautical Science Department is offering aviation safety courses that can lead to a minor in Aviation Safety. These technical and non-technical courses provide the student with a basic foundation in the areas of aircraft accident investigation or aviation safety management. AEROSPACE ELECTRONICS MINORThe minor in Aerospace Electronics provides a knowledge of digital electronics and its application to aviation and space electronics systems. Minor is not open to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Electronics or the Aerospace Electronics Area of Concentration in the Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Systems Maintenance.
INDUSTRIAL SAFETY MINORThe minor in Industrial Safety is offered through the Applied Aviation Sciences Department. Students will have the ability to maintain relevant competencies in aviation while expanding their capabilities in other industrial sectors. In addition to airlines and aircraft manufacturing industries, students would be able to seek employment in sectors such as automotive, insurance (loss control), miscellaneous parts manufacturing and assembly, food processing, consumer goods, and selected service sectors such as health care.
SPACE STUDIES MINORThe Space Studies Minor requires fifteen credits for completion. The courses can be chosen from those listed on the Space Studies courses page, or in the Undergraduate Catalog which also lists the course prerequisites. |
