Yamamoto brings to life traditional Japanese folktales as well as modern stories that shed light on the cultural, moral, and social ideals of her native country. Her multimedia show combines music, pantomime, magic tricks, and a variety of origami (folded paper) stage props: mythological character masks, flowers, puppets, and a six-foot-long dragon. Trained in dance and other time-honored arts in Osaka, Japan, Yamamoto has lived in Florida since 1992. In addition to performing, she teaches workshops in Japanese origami, music, and theater. For more information on Yamamoto’s mission to educate and amuse, please visit her website at www.kunikotheater.com. The event is co-sponsored by Embry-Riddle’s Arts & Letters Series and the Office of Diversity Initiatives. It is presented as an offering of the Arts on Tour roster of the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs. The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Willie Miller Instructional Center on Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus, 600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd. Admission is $5 at the door for the general public, or free with Embry-Riddle ID card. For more information, call (386) 226-6668 or visit http://erau.edu/arts.
