Top 100 Logo Daytona Beach, Fla., Aug. 9, 2010 -- At number 22, Embry-Riddle has received its highest ranking ever in the Orlando Sentinel’s annual list of Central Florida’s Top 100 Companies for Working Families. This is the sixth straight year Embry-Riddle has been named to the list.

The family-friendly employers were announced at the Top 100 Awards Luncheon held Aug. 6 at Universal Orlando’s Royal Pacific Resort.

The Orlando Sentinel’s Top 100 employers are chosen for this honor on the basis of their family-related benefits, work environment, communication network, and training opportunities. The ranking was published Aug. 8 in the Orlando Sentinel and can be found online at http://www.orlandosentinel.com/top100.

Another publication, Florida Trend magazine, also honored Embry-Riddle recently. For the second year in a row, it named Embry-Riddle one of Florida’s Top 100 Best Companies to Work For, ranking the university 34th in the large-company category.

“Our continued ranking as a leading employer in Florida reflects our strong commitment to enhancing the university’s salary and benefit package whenever possible,” said Irene McReynolds, vice president of human resources at Embry-Riddle. “Hiring and retaining faculty and staff who are leaders in their field is absolutely vital to maintaining Embry-Riddle’s preeminent position in aviation/aerospace education and research.”

The university, which has 1,170 employees in Central Florida and 1,330 others around the world, offers competitive salaries, a paid time-off plan, a four-day summer workweek, and health insurance with vision and dental coverage.

Embry-Riddle offers a broad selection of more than 30 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in aviation, aerospace, engineering, transportation, business, and related high-tech fields. This year the university is launching its first doctoral programs, in aviation and in engineering physics. The Ph.D. in aviation is the first in the nation.

The university’s Human Resources Dept. and employee Work Environment Quality Council have established two new programs for employees and their families. Bring Our Children to Work Day introduces employees’ children and grandchildren to the excitement and value of aviation/aerospace education and careers. In the other new program, Embry-Riddle employees donate school supplies for the K-12 children and grandchildren of other Embry-Riddle workers.
