William Minor Joins Embry-Riddle as Assistant V.P. for Communications/Marketing
Minor will report to Daniel Montplaisir, vice president for institutional advancement. “As a part of Embry-Riddle’s leadership,” Montplaisir said, “Bill will have an exciting opportunity to lead the brand management and marketing efforts for the Number One aerospace engineering program in the nation.” For the past seven years, U.S. News/World Report’s annual “Best Colleges” issue has ranked Embry-Riddle #1 in the category of aerospace, aeronautical, and astronautical engineering programs at U.S. schools where the highest degree is a master’s. The magazine also has ranked the university ninth in the nation for overall engineering offerings. “It’s an honor to be affiliated with such a successful and prestigious university,” Minor said. “I’m looking forward to leading the strategic marketing and communication initiatives for Embry-Riddle. We have the opportunity to continue to build upon the university’s strong brand equity.” At Embry-Riddle, Minor will head up the communication and marketing efforts of the Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., campuses. He will oversee the Embry-Riddle brand and work to increase awareness of the university among all target market segments, including prospective students, industry, and the general public. At Penn State, Minor was senior director for outreach marketing, responsible for developing innovative marketing strategies to promote the university’s outreach activities, particularly continuing and distance education programs. He led the development of a unified brand strategy for 23 campus locations, 67 Cooperative Extension offices in Pennsylvania, and Penn State’s online brand. Previously, Minor reported to the CEO of a Fortune 800 company, Ohio Casualty Insurance, directing all their marketing efforts. Before that, he held senior account management positions for more than 20 years at advertising giants J. Walter Thompson, Tracy-Locke/DBB, and Young & Rubicam. In these roles, he performed a wide range of strategic brand building, marketing, and advertising assignments for such accounts as Quaker Oats, Frito-Lay, General Foods/Kraft’s Oscar Mayer and Jell-O, and Northern Telecom. Minor earned a B.A. in marketing and political science at the University of Arizona and completed the Executive Management Program at the University of Michigan. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world’s largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, offers more than 30 degree programs in its colleges of Arts and Sciences, Aviation, Business, and Engineering. The university educates more than 34,000 students annually in undergraduate and graduate programs at residential campuses in Prescott, Ariz., and Daytona Beach, Fla., through its Worldwide Campus at more than 130 centers in the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Middle East, and through online learning.
