Phone: 386-226-6525 Embry-Riddle the Top Fund-Raiser in Volusia/Flagler Heart Walk
To date, Embry-Riddle’s combined teams of faculty, staff, and students have raised $33,878 for the Heart Association. Embry-Riddle was a local sponsor of the Heart Walk, and its president, Dr. John P. Johnson, chaired the event. The university fielded 793 walkers out of the total of nearly 2,000, and many in the Embry-Riddle community made monetary contributions. More than 40 companies and organizations took part in the walk. Embry-Riddle’s individual winners for the most money raised were:

Mike Schaefer, Team Captain) The university’s team captains were: AbdulAziz Al-Hajeri, Felipe Arancibia, Nicole Axtell, Kelly Billon, Gabe Blanton, Len Brazis, Nathan Buske, Karolyn Campbell, Chris Chapman, Andrew Chase, Charles Cunningham, Adrienne Dominello, Donna Ferrell, Wesley Flannell, Joshua Gerkin, Sam Granata, Eddie Hanna, Jennifer Hinebaugh, Kelly Laubach, Chelsea Longa, Keith Mattingly, Sudhin Mukundan, Victoria Pena, Jim Ramsay, Kareem Richards, Sally Richards, Liezl Samios-Uy, Mike Schaefer, Onji Scott, Tora Simpson, Sandy Sirk, Joe Tabor, Ashley Tanner, Anuj Totapudi, Breanna Welch, Dan Young, and Matthew Zumbar. On Wednesday, Oct. 10, a reception for faculty, staff, and students will honor all walkers. At the reception, the Embry-Riddle Giving Cup, a traveling trophy, will be awarded to the top Heart Walk team. The Giving Cup is awarded annually in recognition of an outstanding philanthropic effort by an individual or department.
