Travis Air Force Base to Host Embry-Riddle Graduation for Beale, Oakland, and Travis Students

Travis Air Force Base, Calif., June 2, 2006 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Extended Campus facilities in Oakland and at Beale and Travis Air Force Bases will conduct commencement exercises on Friday, June 9, at 11 a.m. in the Base Theater on Travis Air Force Base. A reception will follow in the Travis Conference Center.

This year’s ceremony celebrates 80 students receiving undergraduate or graduate degrees in Technical Operations, Professional Aeronautics, and Aeronautical Science.

“These students have triumphed through temporary duty assignments, deployments, and personal hardships, yet by maintaining a positive attitude they are now heading for a smooth landing, degree in hand,” said Natalla Franklin, Travis Center Director of Operations.

Col. Timothy M. Zadalis, vice commander of the 60th Air Mobility Wing at Travis Air Force Base, will give the commencement address. As vice commander, Zadalis assists in leading the largest air mobility wing in the Air Force, home to 27 C-5 and 27 KC-10 aircraft, and in providing rapid global mobility in support of Joint Chiefs of Staff-directed combat operations and U.S. State Department-sponsored humanitarian relief efforts worldwide.

Zadalis was commissioned through Officer Training School, Lackland AFB, Texas, in 1984. As a command pilot with 4,142 flying hours, his career includes numerous operational and staff positions, including command of the 7th Airlift Squadron at McChord AFB, Washington, and most recently as the U.S. Transportation Command’s liaison to U.S. Northern Command.
