Kelly-Scott Jazz 5Tet to Perform at Embry-Riddle
Led by vocalist Lisa Kelly and trumpeter J.B. Scott, the Kelly-Scott Jazz 5tet has a versatile improvisational style that ranges from old school swing to driving bebop. The group features the rhythm section of pianist Jeff Phillips, bassist Dennis Marks, and drummer Rick Kirkland. The performance will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the Miller Instructional Center auditorium on Embry-Riddle’s campus, 600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach. The event is free and open to the public, with donations gratefully accepted. Autographed copies of the group’s latest CD, the award-winning Memories of Tomorrow, will be available for purchase following the performance. The Kelly-Scott Jazz 5Tet are also profiled as “Artists Deserving Wider Recognition” on the Southern Arts Federation CD, JazzSouth, which has been distributed to hundreds of radio stations throughout the United States and other countries. The artists in the Kelly-Scott Jazz 5Tet have significant national and international performance backgrounds as featured guest artists/clinicians, appearing on many recordings and in numerous concert halls, clubs, school music programs, and jazz camps. As a group, they have performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Savannah Jazz Festival, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Festival, the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, and at many high-profile special events, concert series, and jazz societies.
