Embry-Riddle’s Naval ROTC Drill Team Impressive in Pennsylvania Tourney

Daytona Beach, Fla., April 24, 2006 -- The Embry-Riddle Naval ROTC Color Guard and Drill Team took first place in two categories at the Villanova Drill Meet held recently at Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

After spending the last year practicing several hours each week, the Embry-Riddle students competed in the Color Guard, Platoon Basic, Squad Basic, Squad Exhibition, and Two-Man Exhibition Drill events.

The team took first place in the Two-Man Exhibition category. In the Color Guard event, the team was also first, finishing 20 points above their closest competitor, the U.S. Naval Academy.

Embry-Riddle Naval ROTC took second place in Squad Exhibition and fifth in Squad Basic. The team tied for third-place overall, but was awarded fourth after a tie-breaker with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Penn State and UCLA were among the nearly 20 schools that fielded teams at the Villanova Drill Meet.
