Embry-Riddle Plans Tsunami Relief Day

What:

Tsunami Relief Day at Embry-Riddle. Activities include a skydiving exhibition, 5K run, BBQ lunch, a student activities fair, and the Embry-Riddle vs. Flagler College basketball game in the evening.

All food and drink concessions from the day’s activities and the basketball game will be donated to the tsunami relief effort. A portion of the gate receipts from the basketball game will also be donated.

When:

Wednesday, January 26, 2005
Activities begin at 10 a.m.

Where:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd.
Daytona Beach, Fla.

Why:

All monies raised will be forwarded to three tsunami charities supported by former presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. They are Oxfam America, the American Red Cross, and UNICEF. Each organization will receive a third of the funds raised.

Schedule of Events

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Student Activities Fair on Legacy Walk

11 a.m.
5K Run begins and ends at ICI Center
($5 minimum entrance fee donation)
Prizes will be awarded to winners

Noon
Skydivers land on lawn near Student Center

Noon to 2 p.m.
Lunch
Grilled chicken, burgers, and baked beans
(Food provided by Sodexho, drinks courtesy of Pepsi)

7 p.m.
Basketball Game
Embry-Riddle vs. Flagler College at ICI Center
(A portion of gate receipts will be donated)
