Embry-Riddle’s Extended Campus Opens New Houston CenterDaytona Beach, Fla., Sept. 29, 2005 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Extended Campus is opening a new center in the Clear Lake area to serve the needs of the Houston area aviation/aerospace workforce. The facility, which is located at 16441 Space Center Blvd., Bldg. D, will open Oct. 12, 2005. The first Houston area center opened in 1997 on federal property at Ellington Field. This expansion follows Embry-Riddle’s recent approval by the State of Texas to offer programs at a civilian site. “We look forward to serving the education needs of the many folks who have expressed an interest in an aviation/aerospace degree,” said Alice Goodrich, regional director of Operations for Embry-Riddle. The Houston center offers undergraduate degrees in Professional Aeronautics and Technical Management. It also offers a graduate program in Technical Management and is awaiting approval on a Master of Science in Management, with Aviation/Aerospace specializations. “Since most of our students are involved with aviation or aerospace, we wanted to find a convenient location that served their needs,” said Larry Tucker, the Houston Center director of Operations. “The Clear Lake location is a perfect site.” To accommodate working adults, course schedules are flexible, with most classes meeting just one night per week. The faculty are industry professionals who specialize in teaching adults. The center is approved for veteran educational benefits and financial aid. Tuition assistance is available to those who qualify. For more information on the center and its programs, contact Larry Tucker at (281) 461-ERAU (3728) or houston.center@erau.edu.
