Phone: (386) 226-7077 Embry-Riddle's Extended Campus Opens New Dayton CenterDaytona Beach, Fla., May 10, 2005 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Extended Campus is dedicating a new Dayton-area teaching center on Wednesday, June 1, with an open house from 5-7 p.m. The Extended Campus is expanding based on the needs of the Dayton metro area workforce. Jan Anderson, director of operations at the Dayton Center, says the area was chosen because of its proximity to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and for its convenience to the local civilian aviation community. The location is off I-675, which connects all major highways, including I-70 and I-75. It is also convenient for supporting the Dayton Airport as well as Columbus students who do not have military base access. The center features plentiful parking, a conference room and library, and beautiful large classrooms with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. "We are proud to provide this setting for our students to use while pursuing their educational goals with us," Anderson said. "Our courses in technical management, aviation, and aeronautics are designed for the professional needs of working adults." For more than 30 years, the Extended Campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has created basic and advanced educational opportunities for working professionals and members of the armed forces. The Wright-Patterson AFB Center was formed in the late 1980s and has had several locations on base during its 17 years of operation. "It is important to realize that we are not closing the Wright-Patterson AFB Center. We are adding a second location to complement our Wright-Patterson Center," Anderson said. In addition to the new second location in the Dayton area, an articulation agreement was established with Sinclair Community College last year. The articulation is designed to provide a seamless transfer from the associate degree aviation programs at Sinclair into the bachelor degree programs at Embry-Riddle. Also last year, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was established with Netjets in Columbus in which Embry-Riddle offers its Master of Aeronautical Science degree and Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics degree on-site at the Netjets facility. "This joint partnership has worked out so well, providing such convenience and positive results, that we look forward to working with other companies in Ohio that may be interested in extending this service to their employees. It's a win-win situation for all," Anderson said. The Dayton-area center is located at 1164 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, Ohio. Programs available in Dayton include a Master of Aeronautical Science, with specializations in Management, Operations, or Safety; a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics; a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management; and associate degrees in Professional Aeronautics and Technical Management. For more information on the new Dayton-area center and any of its programs, contact Jan Anderson at (937) 878-3728 or wright.patterson.center@erau.edu. Embry-Riddle, the world's largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, offers more than 30 degree programs in its colleges of Arts and Sciences, Aviation, Business, and Engineering. Embry-Riddle educates more than 30,000 students annually in undergraduate and graduate programs at residential campuses in Prescott, Ariz., and Daytona Beach, Fla., through the Extended Campus at more than 130 teaching centers in the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East, and through distance learning. |
