Embry-Riddle Dean Wins NATA Pilot Training Award

Dr. Tim Brady Daytona Beach, Fla., March 18, 2005 -- Dr. Tim Brady, dean of the College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has received the 2005 Excellence in Pilot Training Award from the National Air Transportation Association (NATA).

The group presented seven Industry Excellence Awards in various categories on March 8 during the opening session of its annual convention in Las Vegas. The awards honor individuals and organizations for outstanding accomplishments and service to aviation and NATA.

The award presented to Brady spotlights safety, professionalism, leadership, and excellence in pilot training. He was specifically cited for distinction in both the civilian and military sectors of the aviation industry as a highly knowledgeable and experienced aviator, teacher, administrator, and writer.

As dean of the College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus, Brady oversees four departments -- Aeronautical Science, Applied Aviation Sciences, Aviation Maintenance Science, and Flight Training -- encompassing about 1,800 students. The Aeronautical Science program is the largest in the nation. Previously, Brady was associate dean of the College of Aviation and chairman of the Applied Aviation Sciences Department.

Before joining Embry-Riddle in 1998, he held top-level positions at Central Missouri State University and Parks College of St. Louis University.

Brady is the lead author of the college textbook The American Aviation Experience: A History and has published over 30 articles on aviation. He has written more than 40 major grants, contracts, and proposals totaling nearly $4 million.

In other roles in higher education, Brady is president of the Council on Aviation Accreditation and past president of the University Aviation Association.

For 22 years he was an active-duty C-130 pilot with the U.S. Air Force, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross twice, in addition to several air medals. He currently holds an air transport pilot rating.

Brady earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at Saint Louis University, an M.S. in Management at Abilene Christian University, and a B.S. in Social Science at Troy State University.

The National Air Transportation Association is a national trade association that represents the business interests of general aviation service companies on legislative and regulatory matters at the federal level.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world’s largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, offers more than 30 degree programs in its colleges of Arts and Sciences, Aviation, Business, and Engineering. Embry-Riddle educates more than 30,000 students annually in undergraduate and graduate programs at residential campuses in Prescott, Ariz., and Daytona Beach, Fla., through the Extended Campus at more than 130 centers in the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East, and through distance learning.
