Lindajean Western Joins Embry-Riddle as Assistant Vice President, Communications and Marketing

Lindajean WesternDaytona Beach, Fla., Oct. 25, 2004 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has named Lindajean H. Western to the newly created position of assistant vice president of Communications and Marketing.

Previously, she was the director of Marketing and Communications for Kent State University's College of Continuing Studies.

"I am extremely pleased to have LindaJean join us in our effort to expand the scope of Embry-Riddle marketing," said Gary Hamme, vice president of Marketing and Enrollment Management. "Her academic marketing background will be a great asset as we move forward with our ambitious goals for marketing university programs and projects."

Western will work closely with Hamme and other members of the senior leadership team to develop an integrated and progressive strategy for Embry-Riddle's internal and external marketing and communications. The objective is to propel the university higher in the ranks of the nation's most well-known and respected technical institutions by building a highly recognizable brand identification in such key audiences as prospective students, industry and government leaders, employers, alumni, and donors.

One of Western's first projects will be to create a research plan to measure and evaluate Embry-Riddle's current market position. The results will be used to make the university increasingly competitive through more effective use of advertising, media relations, the Internet, and other resources.

"Energy and innovation resonate from all corners of the Embry-Riddle organization," said Western. "I am honored to be invited to join this engaging team of forward thinkers to take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."

Western's lengthy experience as a professional communicator includes 15 years as a U.S. Marine Corps public affairs officer, 10 years in healthcare marketing and administration, and seven years in higher-education marketing and communications.

She holds a B.A. in Journalism from Ohio State University and an M.A. in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix.
