Embry-Riddle Names Terry Mularkey Director of Alumni/Parent Relations
Daytona Beach, Fla., July 21, 2003 -- Terry Mularkey, an executive in the athletic department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has been selected as Director of Alumni/Parent Relations for the university.
In his new position, Mularkey will oversee all aspects of alumni and parent relations including a continuing effort to involve alumni and parents in university activities and initiatives.
"Alumni and parent involvement is crucial to the growth and development of Embry-Riddle," Mularkey said. "I welcome this opportunity to work closely with these two groups in securing their input and support for current and future projects and programs."
Mularkey has held the position of Director of Development for Athletics at Embry-Riddle since 1999. In that position, he was responsible for fund raising activities for the athletic program's capital requirements, endowments and scholarship campaigns. He also established and managed the Eagle Athletic Association consisting of more than 400 boosters, sponsors, volunteers and Advisory Council members.
"Terry Mularkey brings to University Development an extensive and impressive background in industry and university relations," said James Hill, vice president of Development at Embry-Riddle. "I am pleased to have someone of Terry's proven ability leading the alumni and parent relations effort."
Prior to joining Embry-Riddle, Mularkey was a U.S. Army officer retiring after 21 years as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career, Mularkey was assigned to the Pentagon where he coordinated projects for the Joint Chiefs of Staff as a member of General Colin Powell's staff and also managed civilian-military liaison initiatives with the White House and Capitol Hill. He was a U.S. Army Ranger, a Special Forces officer and a combat rated UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot who flew missions in Iraq, Grenada, Panama and Turkey.
Mularkey served as Commander and Department Chair of the Embry-Riddle ROTC program, which was ranked number one in the southeast and number seven in the nation.
Mularkey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercer University in Macon, Ga. and a Master's in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle.
