Embry-Riddle Announces Plans for Wings & Waves
in 2003
Daytona Beach, Fla., May 30, 2002 -- Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University will present Wings & Waves:
Embry-Riddle Celebrates the Centennial of FlightTM,
a spectacular air and sea show over the ocean at Daytona
Beach, Saturday, Nov. 8, and Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003. The
free, family-oriented event, which will feature a live
concert, is an encore performance of the show that drew
more than 200,000 spectators in November 2001. The beachside
Adam's Mark Resort is show center for this festive celebration
of 100 years of flight.
In December 1903, on the sands of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Orville
and Wilbur Wright achieved the milestone of controlled,
human-powered flight. Embry-Riddle will celebrate the
legacy of the Wright brothers' accomplishment and the
profound impact of powered flight on mankind with Wings
& Waves: Embry-Riddle Celebrates the Centennial of FlightTM.
The university has invited the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds
for a repeat of last year's show-stopping performance
that was presented by Embry-Riddle during its 75th anniversary
celebration. The university is also scheduling a variety
of military and civilian aerial acts.
While aerobatic daredevils and high-performance military
jets carve up the sky, spectators will also enjoy music,
food, concessions, and exhibits on the ground. An evening
concert in the Daytona Beach Bandshell by a headline act
is also in the works, and a Veterans Day ceremony is planned.
Wings & Waves: Embry-Riddle Celebrates the Centennial
of FlightTM will coincide with the university's
annual Homecoming, Parent Weekend, and Industry/Career
Expo. Sponsorship packages are available for businesses
and organizations. For more information about Wings
