Embry-Riddle's Savannah Center Adds B.S. in Management of
Technical Operations
Daytona Beach, Fla., Oct. 7, 2002 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's
Savannah Center at Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia has added
a new degree to its offerings, the B.S. in Management of
Technical Operations (BSMTO), with minors available in Aviation
Safety, Business Administration, and Logistics.
"This degree program is business-based, so it's ideal for civilians or military with technical expertise in any field who want to develop and improve their managerial skills so they can progress in their careers," said Nicole Tibbs Weaver, director of the Savannah Center.
The four-year BSMTO degree is designed for the student who has acquired technical knowledge through previous coursework, licensing, or experience. Credit may be granted for aviation-related licenses already earned, such as airframe and powerplant or flight ratings, as well as for equivalent supervisory experience.
The degree requires successful completion of 120 credit hours, including a minimum of 15 semester hours earned in an area of technical operations or through national proficiency tests such as CLEP (College Level Examination Program), DANTES (Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support), or military or industrial education programs recognized by the American Council on Education.
In addition to the BSMTO degree, the Savannah Center offers undergraduate degrees in Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Maintenance Management, and Professional Aeronautics. A Master of Aeronautical Science is also available.
To meet the education needs of working adults, course schedules are flexible and most classes meet only one night per week. Faculty are working professionals who specialize in teaching adults. The center is approved for veteran educational benefits, and financial aid and tuition assistance are available to those who qualify. The center is located at Hunter Army Airfield, Education Center, Building 1290.
Embry-Riddle is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; Telephone: 404-679-4501) to award degrees
