Lt. Gen. Glen W. Moorhead to Speak at Embry-Riddle's European Commencement

Germany, May 22, 2002 -- Lt. Gen. Glen W. Moorhead
will be the featured speaker at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University's European graduation ceremony for 85 students
on Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m. The event will be held
in the Officer's Club at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
Moorhead is vice commander of the headquarters of U.S.
Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) at Ramstein Air Base. He
acts for and in the absence of the USAFE commander in
conducting and coordinating offensive and defensive aerospace
operations for U.S. European Command. He is responsible
for providing administrative and logistical support to
all Air Force units and activities in USAFE's geographical
area of responsibility, which includes Europe, North Africa,
and the Middle East. The general is also responsible for
Air Force negotiations with foreign and U.S. officials.
Moorhead graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in
1969. After completing undergraduate pilot training and
initial mission qualification, he was assigned to Southeast
Asia, where he flew more than 350 close air support and
air interdiction missions in the A-37 Dragonfly and A-7
Corsair II. He has commanded the Air Warfare Center, 50th
Space Wing, Space Warfare Center, 48th Operations Group,
two tactical fighter squadrons, and the Warrior Preparation
Center in Europe. He has flown more than 5,000 hours in
attack and fighter aircraft.
The general also served as a special assistant to the
Supreme Allied Commander Europe, as chief of staff for
Joint Task Force Provide Promise, in staff assignments
at Headquarters Tactical Air Command, and as assistant
deputy chief of staff for air and space operations at
Air Force headquarters.
Moorhead received a master's degree in aeronautical science
in 1994 from Embry-Riddle.
