Guy McClurkan Named Vice President of
Affiliate Operations at Embry-Riddle
Daytona Beach, Fla., Aug. 19, 2002 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is pleased to announce that Guy McClurkan has been promoted to the position of vice president of affiliate operations.
In his new position, McClurkan will oversee the development and operation of nontraditional business such as providing new sources of funding for Embry-Riddle's primary educational missions, expanding training operations, and increasing the university's global reach.
McClurkan, who joined Embry-Riddle in 2000 as director of business development, will be responsible for management of the Aviation & Space Technology Academy (ASTA), which offers first officer flight training as well as certification programs in advanced avionics and aviation maintenance technology.
"Guy's promotion clearly recognizes his achievements and underscores our confidence in him and in the value of new programs developed at Embry-Riddle," said George Ebbs, university president. "The leading-edge training programs under the ASTA banner are responding to two clearly evident needs in our industry--providing highly qualified pilots and maintenance technicians."
In his previous position at Embry-Riddle, McClurkan was instrumental in helping Embry-Riddle win the pilot-training contract at the U.S. Air Force Academy, managing the business aspects of a successful new engine introduction program with French partner SMA (Societe de Motorisations Aeronautiques), and was involved in developing the university's gifts-in-kind program.
Before joining Embry-Riddle, McClurkan was the director of business development for Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
McClurkan earned a master's degree in health administration at the Medical College of Virginia and a bachelor of science degree in health care and business administration at Western Kentucky University.
