Embry-Riddle's Vandenberg Center Expands in New Location
Daytona Beach, Fla., Sept. 26, 2002 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Vandenberg Air Force Base Center in California is opening a new teaching site at Lompoc to meet the growing needs of the area's nontraditional student.
Embry-Riddle opened the Vandenberg Air Force Base Center in May 2002, offering undergraduate degrees in Management of Technical Operations and Professional Aeronautics and a Safety Certificate program. The new teaching site will offer the Master of Aeronautical Science and Master of Business Administration/Aviation graduate degrees.
"The new site is convenient to both military and civilian students, located halfway between Lompoc and the Air Force base in Vandenberg Village," says center director Sharon Frey.
Classes at the Lompoc site will begin Oct. 14. Initial course offerings include Aviation Law and Insurance as well as Research Methods and Statistics. Both classes are required for the Master of Aeronautical Science and Business Administration programs.
"The Vandenberg Center will be offering two safety classes this fall that come at an especially appropriate time following the issues brought forward by September 11, 2001," Frey says.
