Embry-Riddle's Jacksonville Center Adds Three New Teaching
Sites
Jacksonville, Fla., May 20, 2002 -- The Jacksonville
Center of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is opening
three new classroom sites to meet the growing needs of
the area's nontraditional student.
The Jacksonville Center's expansion includes locations
at Herlong Airport, Craig Airfield and Northrup Grumman
Corp. in St. Augustine. Naval Station Mayport was designated
as a teaching site of Embry-Riddle's Jacksonville Center
in February 2002. The original center is at Jacksonville's
Naval Air Station.
"We are pleased to add three new classroom sites to better
serve the Jacksonville area," says Brenda Campbell, director
of Embry-Riddle's Jacksonville Center. She adds that the
center now has almost 1,000 enrollments and expects continued
growth as the new teaching sites come on line.
Embry-Riddle provides off-campus degree programs through
the College of Career Education as part of its Extended
Campus, which is made up of teaching sites worldwide.
"The Extended Campus provides the opportunity for persons
who want to obtain a college degree but have been unable
to do so because of location, military duty or work schedule,"
Campbell says.
The Jacksonville Center offers bachelor's degrees in
Professional Aeronautics and Management of Technical Operations
and a master's degree in Aeronautical Science with specializations
in Management, Operations and Safety.
Certificate programs are available in Aviation Safety
and Aviation Maintenance Technology. Students with required
aviation experience may pursue a course of study leading
to an Airframe and Powerplant license. An incentive program
to help cover the cost of the written, oral and practical
testing is available to qualified candidates.
