Embry-Riddle Offers MBA in Aviation Degree Program Online

Daytona Beach, Fla., March 15, 2001 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will offer the master of business administration in aviation (MBA/A) degree program online starting with the May 2001 term.

The MBA/A joins four other web-based degree programs offered through Embry-Riddle's Extended Campus: the associate of science and bachelor of science in professional aeronautics, the bachelor of science in management of technical operations, and the master of aeronautical science.

The program gives students a traditional business foundation in modern management concepts, methods, and tools, while providing an aviation emphasis that is explored in detail through a wide variety of specified electives. The MBA/A degree program is authored and taught solely by Embry-Riddle faculty members holding doctoral degrees.

The MBA/A curriculum is designed to meet the increasing demand for professional managers who have the skills to improve the efficient and effective use of scarce resources, operate in an atmosphere of heightened national and international competition, accommodate the expansion of emerging nations, and respond to the call to preserve the environment.

Web-based instructional software lets students log on from anywhere in the world to download and upload assignments, check their progress in the course, access library and other research materials, and interact with professors and fellow students.

Prior learning credit may be given for coursework at other colleges and universities.

Embry-Riddle's Extended Campus provides educational opportunities for professionals working in civilian and military aviation and aerospace careers through classroom instruction and distance learning.

The Extended Campus maintains a comprehensive system of academic quality control, sustaining the requirements and elements of courses as delivered on Embry-Riddle's residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz. The curricula, academic standards, and academic policies are the same throughout the university.

The Extended Campus gives working adults the opportunity to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees at a network of more than 150 U.S. and European teaching centers and classroom sites located at or near major aviation industry installations, both civilian and military. Students who don't live near an Embry-Riddle teaching center may enroll in many of the same programs through distance learning.

Students receive personalized academic advisement whether they take their classes in the classroom or by distance learning. Classroom instruction is conducted during hours convenient for working students, and distance learning students can work on their studies at any time, and at any place, that is convenient for them.
