Honeywell COO Bob Johnson to Speak at Embry-Riddle Commencement


Bob JohnsonPrescott, Ariz., Nov. 29, 2000 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will hold its fall graduation ceremonies for 142 students on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. in the University Activity Center. The public is invited to attend.

Robert D. "Bob" Johnson will be the commencement speaker. Johnson is executive vice president and co-chief operating officer of Honeywell. He also serves as president and chief executive officer of Honeywell Aerospace. Honeywell's aerospace business, headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz., is the world's largest supplier of aircraft engines, equipment, systems, and services for commercial transport, regional, general aviation, and military aircraft. Honeywell is a $24 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader. In addition to aerospace products and services, the company's global market includes control technologies for buildings, homes, and industry, as well as automotive products.

Before AlliedSignal's merger with Honeywell in 1999, Johnson served as president and chief executive officer of AlliedSignal Aerospace Marketing, Sales, and Service, a $5 billion business that encompassed all of AlliedSignal's global aerospace sales and aftermarket activity. Earlier, he was president and chief executive officer of AlliedSignal Electronic and Avionics Systems, where he led the consolidation of two strategic business units into a unified, customer-focused organization supplying electronic and avionics equipment for commercial and military aerospace applications.

Before joining AlliedSignal in 1994, Johnson was vice president and general manager of manufacturing and services for AAR Corporation, an aviation company headquartered in Chicago. He began his career at General Electric Aircraft Engines, where he was president and managing director of their high-technology repair business. He last served General Electric as general manager of the company's global field service engineering team and global engine services business.

In addition to his Honeywell responsibilities, Johnson serves on the Aerospace Industries Association's Board of Governors, the Aviation Safety Alliance's Board of Directors, Embry-Riddle's President's Advisory Board, and Miami University's Business Advisory Board.
