Biography of Aviation Artist Kristin Hill
World-renowned aviation artist Kristin Hill is the talent behind "Skyhawks and Eagles," the painting recently donated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to Boeing Capital Corporation. The oil painting depicts a Cessna Skyhawk 172 in flight with an aspiring pilot at the controls.
A freelance artist who specializes in aviation-inspired oil paintings, Hill was raised in a family aviation business. She has also had the privilege of flying in some of the world's greatest aircraft, from vintage and aerobatic airplanes to military fighter jets.
Hill received a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Mary Washington College. Her career as a freelance aviation artist began in 1976. Since then, she has completed more than 250 original paintings. In addition, Hill has had more than 30 exhibitions and showings of her work in such prestigious settings as the Pentagon, the Royal Air Force Museum, and the Experimental Aircraft Association Museum. Hill's list of commissioned work includes such pieces as "The Millennium Hawker" and "Paul Poberezny: That We May All Dream." Hill's works have been published in the book Aviation: A History Through Art and the magazine Private Pilot, among others.
"Aviation was always a natural and welcome part of my life. Knowing that others enjoy and are inspired by a painting is rewarding," Hill said.
