Embry-Riddle Chancellor Thomas Connolly to Receive Aerospace Education Award
Daytona Beach, Fla., Feb. 28, 2000 -- Dr. Thomas J. Connolly, interim chancellor at the Daytona Beach, Fla., campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has been selected as a recipient of the Crown Circle Award for 2000.
The award, which honors the nation's finest aerospace educators for innovative leadership and commitment to professional growth, will be presented March 17 in San Diego during the thirty-third annual National Congress on Aviation and Space Education.
Sponsored by the Civil Air Patrol, an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, the conference will bring together educators from all disciplines to explore the latest tools, topics, and techniques in the field of aerospace education.
Connolly has been with Embry-Riddle since 1973 and has served in a variety of faculty and administrative positions in the aeronautical science and flight departments. He most recently served as the dean of the School of Aviation and is a professor of aeronautical science with tenure.
Connolly holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate and has accumulated more than 6,000 hours of total flight time.
He earned an Ed.D. in technical education from Nova University, an M.A. in education administration from Loras College, and a B.A. in history from Loras College.
