Embry-Riddle Appoints Dr. Tim Brady Dean of School of Aviation


Dr. Tim BradyDaytona Beach, Fla., Sept. 6, 2000 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has named Dr. Tim Brady as dean of the School of Aviation at the university's Daytona Beach campus.

Brady has been the acting dean of the School of Aviation since September 1999. Most recently, he was the associate dean of the School of Aviation and the chairman of the Applied Aviation Sciences Department. He has been with Embry-Riddle since 1998.

Currently, Brady serves on the board of trustees of the Council on Aviation Accreditation and is the chairman of its accreditation committee. He is dual rated as a pilot and navigator, and holds an air transport pilot rating.

As dean of the School of Aviation, Brady is responsible for two academic departments, Applied Aviation Sciences and Aeronautical Science. These two departments offer five academic degrees -- bachelor's in Aeronautical Science, Air Traffic Management, Applied Meteorology, and Safety Science and a master's in Aeronautical Science -- and enroll about 1,800 students. There are 36 full-time faculty in the School of Aviation at the university's Daytona Beach Campus. Embry Riddle's aeronautical science degree has the largest enrollment of any similar undergraduate degree program in the nation.

Brady holds a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Higher Education Administration from St. Louis University, an M.S. in Management from Abilene Christian University, and a B.S. in Social Science from Troy State University.

Brady has more than 20 years of experience in higher education, administration, and teaching. Before joining Embry-Riddle, he was chairman of the aviation department at Central Missouri State. He also served as dean of institutional advancement and external programs at Parks College of St. Louis University. Brady saw active duty with the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1980 as a C-130 pilot and was twice decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross in addition to several air medals.

He is the author of more than 30 articles and is the lead author and editor of the college textbook The American Aviation Experience: A History, and has written more than 30 major grants, contracts, and proposals in his career.
