Embry-Riddle Professor Dee Andrews Awarded British Silver Medal by Royal Aeronautical Society

Daytona Beach, Fla., Dec. 15, 2000 -- Dr. Dee Andrews, an adjunct professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, was recently awarded a British Silver Medal by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) of the United Kingdom.

Andrews teaches graduate courses in the aeronautical science and management of technical operations degree programs at three of Embry-Riddle's Extended Campus teaching centers in the Phoenix area and a course on flight physiology for the university's distance learning program. He holds a Ph.D. in instructional systems from Florida State University, an M.S. in instructional design from Florida State University, and a B.S. in psychology from Brigham Young University.

Andrews, a fellow of the RAeS, was awarded the medal for his contributions in the last 13 years as the technical director of the Warfighter Training Research Division of the Air Force Research Laboratory. The division develops new training methods and technologies for training Air Force combat units, especially aviators. The division's prime focus is on mission-level training.

He has more than 20 years of experience in higher education, aerospace, and psychology. He is the author of numerous publications, including journal articles, technical reports and papers, and conference proceedings.

Founded in 1866, the RAeS is the oldest aeronautical society in the world and has 18,000 members worldwide. It ensures the highest professional standards in all aerospace disciplines, is a unique source of specialized information, and plays a leading role in influencing opinion on aviation matters. Conferred annually since 1908, the RAeS general awards are the most prestigious honors that it bestows on aerospace professionals. The medal competition, judged by an international panel of aeronautical experts, recognizes outstanding individual achievement and commitment to the aviation industry that lead to major advances in aerospace.

Embry-Riddle, the world's largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, meets the needs of students and industry through its educational, training, research, and consulting activities. Embry-Riddle educates 22,000 students through the master's level at residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., at more than 100 teaching sites in the United States and Europe, and through distance learning.
