Argentina's National Civil Aviation Institute Chooses Embry-Riddle for Flight Training

Daytona Beach, Fla., March 31, 1999 -- The National Civil Aviation Institute (INAC) of Argentina has chosen Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to help it improve its flight training programs and enhance its ability to meet that nation's need for new pilots. An aviation school operated by the Argentine Air Force in Buenos Aires, INAC trains pilots for Aerolineas Argentinas and other organizations.

"Our program with INAC is consistent with Embry-Riddle's desire to make its academic, flight, and language resources available to help airlines around the world meet their training needs," said Thorsten Hisam, director of international relations at the university.

An advance group of four flight simulator instructors from the institute visited Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach, Fla., campus for two weeks in February to learn how the university educates and trains pilots. During their visit, they met with university faculty, attended classes in the aeronautical science degree program, and studied aviation English.

They also performed flight training exercises in Embry-Riddle's Advanced Flight Simulation Center, which houses two full-motion, Level D simulators owned by FlightSafety International -- a Boeing 737-300 and a Beech 1900D.

Later this year, a larger group of flight instructors from INAC will visit Embry-Riddle for an expanded program that will include six weeks of training in aviation English and technical subjects.

The program is administered by the Center for Aviation Training at Embry-Riddle (CATER), which offers customized non-degree training programs in flight, flight dispatching, aviation English, and maintenance technology to corporations, governments, and individuals. For information about CATER programs, contact Paul Woessner at 386-740-6944 or 1-877-904-3746.

Embry-Riddle, the world's largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, meets the needs of students and industry through its educational, training, research, and consulting activities. Degree programs through the master's level are offered in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., at more than 100 teaching sites in the U.S. and Europe, and through distance learning technology.
