Embry-Riddle Named Best Buy in College-Ranking Guide
Daytona Beach, Fla., March 31, 1999 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has been named one of the top values in higher education for the third year in a row with its listing in America's 100 Best College Buys - 2000.
The annual publication is compiled by Institutional Research and Evaluation of Gainesville, Ga., which surveyed 1,391 colleges and universities to determine those that provide the highest quality in education at the lowest cost. Of the 100 schools chosen, 63 are public and 37 are private.
"It is amazing that these schools can consistently, year after year, deliver a quality college education at a cost that is within every student's reach," said Lewis T. Lindsey, president of Institutional Research and Evaluation. "In the 1998-99 school year, students attending one of the colleges listed in our guide saved an average of $2,399 over the national average cost of one year of college."
To be considered for inclusion in the America's 100 Best College Buys guide, a college must meet specific requirements. It must be an accredited, four-year institution; offer full residential facilities, including residence halls and dining services; offer financial aid based on need or on athletic or academic talent; have an entering freshman class with a high school grade point average and/or SAT/ACT score equal to or above the national average; and the cost of attendance must not exceed the national average by more than 10 percent.
Embry-Riddle, the world's largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, meets the needs of students and industry through its educational, training, research, and consulting activities. Degree programs through the master's level are offered at residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., at more than 100 teaching sites in the U.S. and Europe, and through independent study and distance education.
