Embry-Riddle Flight Training Center Earns FAA Certification
Daytona Beach, Fla., July 16, 1999 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to offer type rating programs for the Beech 1900 aircraft under the provision of the FAA's Part 14 CFR 142 regulations.
Using a full-flight, FAA Level-D Beech 1900D simulator in its Advanced Flight Simulation Center, Embry-Riddle will offer courses to prepare students and clients for airline transport pilot initial certification, Beech 1900 initial additional aircraft ratings, instrument proficiency checks, airplane proficiency checks, second-in-command qualification, flight reviews, recency of instrument flight rules experience, and recency of landing experience.
The training center at Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach, Fla., campus is the result of a partnership between the university and FlightSafety International. It houses the Beech 1900D simulator, as well as a Boeing 737-300. Both simulators, which are owned and operated by FSI, are certified at Level-D, the highest level possible for flight simulators. Embry-Riddle also expects to offer Part 142 training in the Boeing 737-300.
"This certification means our students and other customers will be able to receive real airline training alongside the airline crews that are already training in the center," says Paul McDuffee, Embry-Riddle's vice president for aviation training. "It's another big step forward in our reentry into the aviation training market."
Embry-Riddle, the world's largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, meets the needs of students and industry through its educational, training, research, and consulting activities. Degree programs through the master's level are offered at residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., at more than 100 teaching sites in the U.S. and Europe, and through independent study and distance education.
