Embry-Riddle Offers Corporate Aviation Management Certificate Program
Daytona Beach, Fla., Nov. 3, 1997 -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University's corporate aviation management certificate program has been
endorsed by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). The program,
developed along guidelines established by the NBAA, has been designed to
provide members of the corporate aviation community an avenue for enhancing
their professional qualifications.
This program provides
an alternative for chief pilots, line pilots, schedulers, dispatchers, flight
attendants, and flight operations and maintenance professionals who wish
to pursue management positions within corporate flight departments. These
professionals often need further training to attain and be successful in
such positions. Traditionally, the completion of certificate programs has
required attendance at seminars and short courses, yet the schedules of
corporate aviation professionals don't easily accommodate this. The advantage
of the Embry-Riddle program is that all courses will be delivered in a distance
education format, complete with an Internet component. Accessible at
http://www.ec.erau.edu/dce/camp,
the site will allow students who are enrolled to interact with faculty members
and with each other.
The certificate program consists of 26 non-credit mini courses designed
to address issues relevant to corporate aviation. The management, leadership,
communication, and business administration modules include courses such
as aviation safety and security, legal issues in aviation management, team
building and organizational behavior, crew resource management, and applied
economics and marketing principles.
The total number of contact hours in the program is 250. Total cost for
enrolling in these courses is $7812.50. Companies who enroll 5 or more students
in the same course simultaneously receive a 15% discount. Those who prepay
for an entire module of courses receive a 15% discount. Embry-Riddle alumni
receive a 10% discount in addition to quantity discounts.
The program will begin in January of 1998, with all courses being available
by the end of 1998. Aviation professionals who enroll in the certificate
program should be able to complete course requirements in less than 2 years.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Certificate
of Completion from Embry-Riddle as well as a Professional Development Program
Certificate (PDP) from the NBAA. The program also has an option that allows
students to obtain credit toward a future Embry-Riddle degree.
