Help Embry-Riddle Preserve Its Heritage
Embry-Riddle has begun an ambitious project to preserve its history and document its heritage. From May 2002 through April 2003, the university will collect and archive documents, oral histories, memorabilia, and artifacts that tell the Embry-Riddle story from its earliest days as a flight school at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati, Ohio, through its emergence as a global university.
This historical collection preserving the noteworthy and defining events in the life of Embry-Riddle will be displayed in museums on the Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., campuses and open to the public and historians. This is an important effort. Throughout its history, Embry-Riddle has been a pioneer and influential partner in the evolution of the aviation industry in America and abroad. This legacy must be preserved for students, researchers, and the public. But time is running out.
If you or anyone you know were associated with Embry-Riddle over the years, please contact us. We're interested in recording oral histories of anyone who can talk about Embry-Riddle and its early days at Lunken Airport; its operations at several Florida training sites before, during, and after World War II; its establishment of campuses in Daytona Beach and Prescott; and its educational outreach through its teaching centers (the former International Campus) and distance learning (formerly Independent Studies). If you wish to volunteer your expertise in archiving, curating, or preserving historical materials, we'd like to hear from you. If you wish to contribute financial assistance and your name to this project, we also want to hear from you. Please help Embry-Riddle preserve its history before it's too late.
