Mission & Mandate

Mission Statement

The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Archives serves as the university's corporate memory by identifying, preserving and making available for use the university's, and all its predecessor bodies, permanently valuable records. The University archives preserves records critical to the continuity of the University. In the pursuit of this mission, the Archives acquires the corporate records (regardless of physical form or characteristics) created, received, or accumulated by University officers or employees in the course of their duties on behalf of the institution.

Mandate

The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Archives operates under the mandate of the Office of the President. The University Archives is responsible for the efficient management of records and information created by, for, and about the university, and for fostering an informed perspective on the history of the University by promoting awareness of the content, value, and uses of its archival holdings to the university administration and research community.

To achieve this mission, the University Archives administers records and archives programs that assist in the management of active records of university offices, provides for the lawful disposition of non-permanent records, and collects, preserves and ensures the ongoing accessibility of records of enduring value. In addition to university records, the Archives collects, preserves, and provides access to other materials that document the history of the university community at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

The University Archives provides archival services to the Daytona Beach, Prescott, and Extended Campuses.
