FEDERAL STAFFORD LOANS

Federal Stafford Subsidized Loan: Interest is paid by the federal government during a grace period or authorized periods of deferment. Payments on the principal are optional while you are enrolled at least half-time (six credit hours is half-time for undergraduate students). The interest rate is fixed at 6.0%. (Disbursed after July 1, 2008)

Federal Stafford Unsubsidized Loan: Interest accrues upon disbursement of the loan. Payments on the principal and/or interest are optional while you are enrolled at least half-time (six credit hours is half-time for undergraduate students). The interest rate is fixed at 6.8%.

FIRST TIME STAFFORD BORROWERS log on to ERNIE at: https://ernie.erau.edu/. Then go to Student Services and click the Financial Aid: Apply for Stafford Loan link. You will need to complete the following:

1. Entrance Counseling
2. e-Master Promissory Note (e-MPN)


To view our Federal Stafford Loan Preferred Lender List you will need to go to the ED FUND Loan Portal website. Once there you will need to:

  • Click Student
  • Select a State (Worlwide Students Please select Florida)
  • Select a College - Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
  • Click: Continue
  • Click: View Lender Options
  • Click: View Stafford Loan Lenders
  • Click on Lender to link to information about their rates, terms, benefits and other information
