WXR-1001 Introduction to Meteorology
This course in basic atmospheric science includes application to flight. Included is the systematic development of the following: basic weather elements of the atmosphere such as composition, structure & density; thermal patterns; an understanding of weather charts, codes, abbreviations, and symbols ; atmospheric moisture such as clouds, dew point, precipitation; horizontal and vertical pressure patterns; stability and instability associated with clouds, atmospheric circulation; local winds, air masses; fronts, fog, icing, thunderstorms; jet streams and turbulence. Students will study and make use of surface weather observations, surface maps, and constant pressure maps to better understand air masses, frontal weather and hazards to aviation such as icing, turbulence, thunderstorms, and fog.
Tuition for WXR-1001 is $750.00 (USD) This course is 3 months and is offered in Sep, Jan, Apr, and Jul. Download the registration form.
